Wedding Roses

Tired of all of my wedding-related posts yet? ;) Now that I'm quite sure my sister and new brother-in-law have received their card, I can finally share it with all of you!

Funny story; this card was sort of done before the wedding. Kind of. Ok, a few pieces were and then I packed up everything else I needed (including the heat gun) and brought it to the hotel with me and finished it the morning after the ceremony. What, am I the only one who's ever done that? Hey, I had 75 fan programs to finish first!!

I bought the new Ranger Texture Paste and simply went to town with my stencils one night playing with it, so that lovely background was already sitting in my stash. The red ribbon was actually part of some packaging from an online order (yay for reusing!) so all I had to really create were the roses. My dear friend Annette over at Feeding the Soul with Art handed me her DeNami rose stamp and said "here, this is what you need for a wedding card" and she was so right.

I heat embossed two of the roses with the gorgeous Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder; OMG is this stuff beautiful! I almost could have left the roses alone, but instead went in with the Distress Markers in  Fired Brick and Peeled Paint for just enough color. After letting the markers dry for a moment, I fussy-cut them out and used my favorite foam tape on just the rose buds and some of the leaves to stick them to the card. The stems were tied with the ribbon and then tacked down under the ribbon. Made them more three-dimensional and made it so that I didn't have to try and glue down those little stems!

I opened up my brand new Wink of Stella clear pen and proceeded to get a HUGE drop of it right on the card. ACK! I freaked out, looked again, and added 3 more to balance it all out and make it look intentional. Yup, when in doubt, act like it was intentional. Then I added it to the rosebuds as I had planned all along. All done!

We have two more weddings to attend this month, so better be prepared for more wedding posts! I'm also blogging over at Mountain Plains Crafters today about a stunning (if I do say so myself) fall card I made up for our latest card challenge. Be sure to stop on by and say 'hello'!

Blueprint Birthday Cards and a Winner!

Oh my word, where is the time going?? Between a flurry of work at my day job (seriously, whomever said that summers were slow and laid-back obviously wasn't an engineer) and my baby sister's wedding in just under 2 weeks, I've barely had a moment to myself to craft lately!

I did manage to go play the other night; if you follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook, you may remember I was having fun coloring some of the Tim Holtz blueprint stamps a while back. I didn't have a specific project for them at the time, I just liked the idea of having them ready when I wanted them. Let me tell you, that planning was a great idea! I snagged (6) of the images, sliced them down a bit, and then went to town pairing them up with card bases, patterned paper layers, and embellishments. It was a ton of fun, and in under an hour I had (6) birthday cards ready to go.

I decided to keep the cards similar but different, so with each set I used different embellishments. On each card I picked a base card & patterned paper that coordinated with my coloring and popped the image up with my foam tape. For the cupcakes, I added some Pretty Pink Posh 4mm clear sequins (swoon!).

The balloons I tilted slightly to mimic their flight and added some wooden star embellishments from the Pretty Pink Posh Woodland kit.

For the party hats, I tried out my new My Mind's Eye enamel dots; oh my, I might be in love. They're so fun!

I'm giving linking my supplies a try; see the end of the post for a list of what I used!

I promised you a winner as well; from the Mountain Plains Crafters blog hop Lynnette Kaufmann is the winner of the Itty Bitty stamp! Lynnette, you've got an email waiting for you. ;)

One last note - the Die Cut Crazy magazine blog hop starts this Friday, August 15th. You won't want to miss it!

FWF Friday at Unity - Sun Sand and Sea

Happy Friday everyone! I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the weekend to begin. We're having a yard sale this Saturday and Sunday (all you local followers, stop by!) and the weather is set to be GORGEOUS! Oh, and hey, happy first day of summer!

I don't know about you, but when I think of summer I think of the beach. So when I saw Unity's beach stamps, they had to be mine. Bonus: no surfboards or palm trees, YAY!! That's become a pet peeve of mine lately, too many companies including those in paper packs and embellishments. Please people, I live in the Northeast. We don't have palm trees at our beaches!

This card started off with white cardstock...before I went to town with my Distress Inks. :) Tea Dye, Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Bundled Sage created the perfect balance of sand and sea. Then I broke out my new Perfect Pearls and Perfect Pearls Mists that I found at Michael's, on clearance, and I had a coupon. Woot! I used Bronze for the seashell frame, then stamped the sentiment with SU Midnight Muse.

The seashells were stamped on ivory cardstock I had in my stash with CTMH Bamboo, then the edges were inked with Distress Stain in Frayed Burlap.

Before I put all the layers together, I spritzed the base card with the Perfect Pearls Mist in Cappuccino and my "ocean" got a spray of Perfect Pearl. Then everything was attached and I popped up the starfish for some added height.
Yes, those are my fingers...no, I don't have a manicure. I'm sure that breaks a rule somewhere...LOL
The result? A pretty, shimmery, beachy card that glitters and glows without the use of glitter. My husband was impressed. LOL
Look at that sparkle! Yowza!

Now I'm off to dream of the beach...I'm linking up to Unity FWF.
