You probably got here from Daniella’s blog, but if you simply stumbled across my wonderful blog head on over to the Tombow USA Blog to start!
I am digging the look of metallic foils on dark colored cardstock and am on a die cutting kick, so I decided to combine the two! I stamped my background floral image with watermark ink, then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give the foil something to stick to. Then I let my laminator get good and hot, laid a piece of Clearsnap Winter Sky Designer Foil over the top of it, and ran it through. I grabbed a word die and cut (3) words out of matching black cardstock and the last layer out of my foiled piece. To make it easier to inlay the words back in, I used my Tombow Mono Multi adhesive and Xtreme runner to add a scrap piece of cardstock to the back.
I used the Tombow Mono to make sure the little negative spaces of the die cut wouldn't peel up on me.
Time to start adding my word back in! I glued the (3) plain black layers together with dots of Tombow Mono, then added my foil piece on top. Once they were stacked I glued the whole pile to the foil piece and added my little negative space pieces back in.
Just look at the shine! It looks like we magically raised the word out of the paper - I love using this trick to add easy dimension to my cards. I grabbed my Xtreme runner (and used the last of my cartridge - eek!) and used that to adhere the foil panel to a standard A2 side-folding card base I created out of a deep teal cardstock. All done!
