Pinwheel 'Happy Birthday' Gift Tags

So I have to say, I love Pink by Design stamps. They have fun stamps that give a nice, clean impression time after time. So when I discovered that they're doing weekly challenges now I just had to jump on board!

You can find this week's challenge on their blog: Ink it Pink it Challenge PbD03: Red, White, & Blue

So, I was going to link up the sailboat card I made, but then I got the urge to make pinwheels. I've been wanting to make them ever since I saw the Lawn Fawn tutorial video a few months ago and today I had a brainstorm as to what to do with them. (Yes, it did hurt a little...all good brainstorms do.)

So I grabbed a piece of My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper and made a little 3"x3" square. Some cutting, hole punching, and folding got me an adorable pinwheel! I secured it with a pretty brad and attached it to half a lollipop stick with a Glue Dot. I then grabbed one of the shipping tags I had crumpled up, smoothed out, and rubbed Distress Ink all over and added some of my new addiction to it - washi tape.

I am absolutely in love with the stuff! I have 6 rolls I'm playing with now and more on the way...shhh, don't tell my husband! One of the really, really cool things about washi tape is that you can stamp on it! In keeping with the theme, I added a strips of red polka dot & blue striped washi to the bottom of my tag and stamped it with one of the Happy Birthday sentiments from the Pink by Design set Birthday, Birthday. It is quickly becoming my go-to set for birthdays. There are so many different fonts! I liked the fun feel of this one:
Are you seeing how cute this is?? I added my pinwheel onto the tag and I was DONE! It was so quick & easy!
All I need is a package or gift bag to put it on!
Of course, then I was standing there going "you know, I already have another square and lollipop stick ready to go..." and suddenly I had two gift tags. I reversed the paper and washi tapes in the second one to make them a little different.
They're just so bright & cheerful!
So then I realized that the baby was still asleep...and I wondered what they'd look like on the red tags I had done up...and suddenly I had four gift tags.
Making these might be a bit addicting...
Aren't they just so stinkin' CUTE! They would be such an adorable addition to a present...heck, they're practically a present within themselves! I'm putting them up in the store as well, hopefully they head off to a good home quickly. I like it when my creations get a good home.

So, are you all off to make pinwheels now? :)

Jumping on the Instagram Bandwagon

http://instagr.am/p/ME6ZC_AKq3/

My first Instagram photo! It only crashed my phone three times, but hey...nothing is perfect, right?

Welcome to the preview of the card that will be gracing the August Out of the Box Sampler kit! It's actually stamped in sepia, but this filter actually worked with my craft room lights...as in it doesn't look hideous. LOL

Feel free to follow me on Instagram at Caffeinated Papercuts. I'll get the hang of this new toy yet!

A Card for Daddy

Father's Day snuck up on me somewhat this year...ever have that happen to you with card-making occasions? I make cards all the time for others, but can I remember to make them for my own family? Nooooo...

Sigh.

So, I went with quick & adorable. Remember the stamp set I used on the OOTB Sampler Box cards? I pulled it back out and made up a quick coloring page for Kieran, then set him to work with the crayons. He's hilarious to watch...colors are very carefully selected and each line is drawn with great precision and care. If only he could clean up his toys with the same wild abandon...ah well. When he was done, I inked up the edges quick, attached it to some leftover chocolate card stock, then put it on a kraft paper card base. One of the leftover twine loops made the perfect finishing touch.

Apparently he was going for a CAS, less is more approach this time...lol
I know, I know - not the greatest photo. Camera phone again, can you tell? I dated the back so we can keep track of his artistic development. :)  His actual gift to his Dada was the new book, Darth Vader and Son. It's full of geeky goodness and was a big hit.

I love my Daddy!

How was YOUR Father's Day?

June Out of the Box Sampler and Giveaway Information!

Over on Etsy is a team called the Out Of The Box Sampler, or OOTBS for short. Each month small business on Etsy get their handmade items together and send them in to Michelle to package them up into boxes of absolute fun! There's a different theme each month and some months have a special box with a special theme, usually around holidays. June is one of those months with a special Men's Father's Day Sampler Box coming out today!

Seeing as I'm insane always looking for a new challenge, I signed up to create 100 special, limited edition greeting cards just for the Men's Father's Day Sampler Box. Seeing as they go on sale tonight, along with the regular June box of Hollywood Glitz & Glamour Girl, I thought now was the time to reveal what our cards look like! Ready?

One each of the color combos and sentiment stamps

I really, really love how they came out. The stamp set is from Unity Stamp Co. and is really perfect for any dude in your life. There are 5 sentiments with the set, so I used each one 20 times. I then scattered those across the 6 different background paper & shirt combinations I made, which you can see here. There were a few here & there that were a different combo, but you get the idea. Lots of cutting, inking, stamping, and more cutting went into these! They were then topped off with some very manly twine and layers of dimensional dots. Each box will contain one of these manly cards. I call them limited edition as I am OUT of the paper I used for all the backgrounds! So even if I do these again, they won't be the same.

Here are some close-ups of the various colors:

Brown stripes with ivory shirt & green diamonds with ivory shirt

Dark brown stripes with green shirt & yellow diamonds with purple shirt

Green plaid with yellow shirt and wood grain with blue shirt...and the shadow of me taking the photo!
You can see all the different sentiments used as well: the man, stud, my guy, father, my dad. I like how they would work for your father, husband, brother...really any guy!

One last close-up, this one showing all the dimensional layers:
The shirt, frame behind the shirt, and sentiment are all popped up
Have I convinced you that you simply must have one? Ok! Here's where you can go tonight, June 4th, to buy a box: OOTBS Team Shoppe. If you're curious to see what else is in the box, check out the list of participating business on the OOTBS website.

I know this is a really long post, but for hanging in there with me here's the fun part: we're almost to 100 'likes' on FB! If you haven't already, head on over to the Caffeinated Papercuts FB page and give us a thumbs up. Mention that you found us via the blog, it makes me feel warm & fuzzy to know that someone is reading it. :) Once we hit 100 'likes', there's going to be a GIVEAWAY! Woohoo! Who knows, maybe one of these cards will be in it...hmmm...

Ooo, baby's asleep! I'm off to craft - later!
