GIU Day 2 - Floral Thanks

Good morning everyone, and welcome to Day 2 of my Growing in Unity week! I'm the Growing in Unity gal this week over on the Unity Stamp Co. blog, which means I'll be sharing a project created with my Unity stamps with you every day. I invite you to come back each day and leave a comment for a chance to be one of the (2) lucky people to win a bag of (25) Unity stamps! Woohoo! If you're new to my blog, I'd love it if you became a follower and join in the fun over on the Caffeinated Papercuts Facebook page or followed Caffeinated Papercuts on Instagram. :)

Spring is attempting to force its way into the Northeast, and I for one am all for it! My crocus are jumping, my daffodils and tulips are straining for sunlight, and I have a flat of pansies to plant. So needless to say, I have flowers on the brain!

Flower-ception! LOL Every so often I get the urge to make a shaped card - they're such a fun alternative to rectangles, even if it is hip to be a square. Ok, ok, I'm done...haven't finished my second cup of coffee yet. Be afraid...

This one was actually pretty simple - ink up the beautiful Samantha Walker stamp in three Distress Inks and stamp onto Neenah Solar White cardstock. I love the Distress Inks for this because they blend so easily and give you a pretty faux-watercolor look. The 'thank you' sentiment also comes with the set and I simply inked that up in a dark gray ink; bold enough to stand above the flowers, but not as harsh as black would be here.

Now start die-cutting! A 3.5" circle worked for my stamped image, then a 3.75" yellow circle and two 4" scalloped circles for the card base. Assemble, glue, and you have a card!

Of course, I couldn't stop there...glossy white Nuvo Crystal Drops for some subtle shine and texture in the middles of the flowers. Done!

Thanks for stopping by today! Remember to leave a comment every day this week to better your chances of winning those stamps, and I'll see you tomorrow for Day 3.

Today was Awesome and Giveaway Winners

Hi everyone! I'm blogging over at a2z Scrapbooking today sharing how I made this gorgeous kraft-white-gold card and how easy it is to mass produce them for all your thank you card needs this summer.

Challenge updates!

Ok, last but not least, thank you to all who stopped by during my Growing in Unity week last week. It was so wonderful to read all of your comments, hear your stories, and have some of you join my little blog family. Unity was one of the first stamp companies I ever really discovered and they'll always have a special place on my shelf. (stop sniffling, Suzy, your shelf is higher than theirs. OK?!?)

Now the fun part - I have winners to announce! Two commenters were drawn at random out of everyone that stopped by before midnight on Friday, June 26th to win a lovely grab bag of 25 Unity stamps. Winners, you have (2) weeks to contact me with your mailing address or I shall have to pick someone else. Just click the email icon over on the right to drop me a note before July 14th and tuck 'GIU stamp winner' in the title, ok? :)

And the winners are:

Congrats Paula and Kenneth! Hope to hear from you soon!

All right, I'll be back tomorrow with the So Suzy Stamps July release. It's going to be amazing!

Playing with Sprays

Happy Friday everyone! I've been playing along with the Unity Stamp Co. Itty Bitty a Day Challenge on Facebook this week and decided to finish it all off by playing with my new Heidi Swapp template I snagged with a birthday certificate (thanks again, Kristen!!).

I wanted CAS, shimmery, and FAST. My first attempt is still drying (bit too much spray, perhaps too thin cardstock) but this one came out, I think, pretty cute.

Shimmer and shine in the early morning light
Little hexagons dancing across the front...hehe, with the edge of the template visible as well. I rolled with it, and made the mental note to cover areas I don't want glitzed better next time. The 'thanks' is an unpackaged Itty Bitty I have which is, well, awesomely versatile.

Pardon my iffy lighting, but the sun wasn't quite up yet when I was snapping these before work. Oops.

The dots in the hexes are from my rolling a paper towel roll over the sprayed area to pick up the extras. It came out so neat!

Thank you everyone for your comments via the blog post & Facebook about my 'Not Quite Perfect...' card. I love the change-up ideas, and the ones that basically told me to lighten up. Sometimes we crafters just need to hear that!

I'm also linking up to Friends with Flair today! Happy Crafting!
