I cannot believe we're on Day 5 already - last post of my week! Get your comments in by midnight EST TONIGHT, April 1st and I'll be announcing the winners next week. Be sure to stop back and see if it's you!

I went back to the flowers...I HAD to! Sadly I also had to use this card as a dear friend lost her mom recently, but this sure did bring a smile to her face.

I stamped the big bloom in Versafine black, then clear heat embossed it to make it fabulous. Don't be afraid to die cut away part of your image - the results can be so bold! A little black matting framed it nicely.

Poke around my site and you'll see just how much I love making my own backgrounds. The matching leaves stamped in a slightly darker ink than the paper makes for the perfect backdrop.

Thank you all so, so much for joining me this week and all of your kind comments. I know some of you are now followers and I'm so very happy to have you here! I hope you all keep in touch - I'm always up to inky, caffeinated trouble around here. ;)

All right, something different - a tag! With a girl! I'd say this is a brief flower break, but then I realized that I snuck them into the background...LOL

Now I'll be honest, the coloring isn't my fave, but I wanted to play with my colored pencils again after quite some time and Unity girls are perfect for coloring. I played with my crackle glaze, too, and that's just as much fun!

All this scene needs is a cup of coffee and it's all about me. Obviously she's on her way to get some...LOL

Thanks for stopping by today! Remember to leave a comment every day this week to better your chances of winning those stamps, and I'll see you tomorrow for Day 5.

Other news - the new So Suzy Stamps Design Team Challenge has begun. Go vote for your favorite card here and be entered to win (2) free stamps! Woohoo!

GIU Day 2 - Floral Thanks

Good morning everyone, and welcome to Day 2 of my Growing in Unity week! I'm the Growing in Unity gal this week over on the Unity Stamp Co. blog, which means I'll be sharing a project created with my Unity stamps with you every day. I invite you to come back each day and leave a comment for a chance to be one of the (2) lucky people to win a bag of (25) Unity stamps! Woohoo! Spring is attempting to force its way into the Northeast, and I for one am all for it! My crocus are jumping, my daffodils and tulips are straining for sunlight, and I have a flat of pansies to plant. So needless to say, I have flowers on the brain!

Flower-ception! LOL Every so often I get the urge to make a shaped card - they're such a fun alternative to rectangles, even if it is hip to be a square. Ok, ok, I'm done...haven't finished my second cup of coffee yet. Be afraid...

This one was actually pretty simple - ink up the beautiful Samantha Walker stamp in three Distress Inks and stamp onto Neenah Solar White cardstock. I love the Distress Inks for this because they blend so easily and give you a pretty faux-watercolor look. The 'thank you' sentiment also comes with the set and I simply inked that up in a dark gray ink; bold enough to stand above the flowers, but not as harsh as black would be here.

Now start die-cutting! A 3.5" circle worked for my stamped image, then a 3.75" yellow circle and two 4" scalloped circles for the card base. Assemble, glue, and you have a card!

Of course, I couldn't stop there...glossy white Nuvo Crystal Drops for some subtle shine and texture in the middles of the flowers. Done!

I thought I'd kick things off with some calendars I made that fit perfectly on your desk. Complete with tear-off pages! :)

I thought the little house was so cute there, and easily stamped & fussy-cut. Switch out the ink colors for lots of different looks.

The poppies look pretty amazing, too! Best thing is, if you want to give them as a gift, they fit in an envelope!

Day 5 of GIU - Hope

Ok, before you guys grab the pitchforks and torches, this is not necessarily a Christmas card - really! I was thinking Arianna Girl could also be used as a sympathy card or for anyone stressing out and just needing some peace.

I kept her very CAS - white card base, embossed shimmer paper and the sentiment simply stamped in black before I ran it through my Big Kick. Arianna herself was colored with my Spectrum Noirs and the card was sandwiched like so - card base, fun foam, embossed piece, foam tape, Arianna. Loads of interest and dimension without the bulk.

Because the embossed piece is shimmery, I kept the little details simple; clear Wink of Stella to her wings and skirt overlay, and some Glossy Accents on the roses.

Day 4 of GIU - Something Wicked

Good morning everyone, and welcome to Day 4 of my Growing in Unity week! Woohoo! Just to let you know, I am reading every last comment you guys are leaving me. Thank you for all of your kind words and stories! In order to not mess up the winner selection I simply cannot reply to each one hence my silence. I do hope each of you will stick around when the week is done - I love having you here! :) Welcome to all of my new followers and to answer the Pocket Letter question, you send the whole letter - 9 little 'cards' tucked into a trading card sleeve page. It is so much fun!

I am certainly still on my coloring kick, though today it's Halloween in June! I really wanted to use my fluorescent colors and Hazel's tights were just perfect for them. I made my own background again, but this time with a stencil and glossy transparent embossing paste.

FYI, it had been long enough since I used it last that I forgot how much this stuff smells. :/ This is only a trait of the transparent paste it seems, but phew! The results are pretty amazing, though.

Instant shine and texture...once it dries. I hate waiting for things to dry. Ah well, while I did I cut down some Smoke cardstock into a top-folding A2 card and stamped up a shimmery pink banner for Hazel's included sentiment. Fun foam under my texture piece once it was dry for even height, then adhesive for the banner and foam tape for my girl. The result is pretty darn cool:

This witch is ready to party! It's very hard to see in photos, but there's clear Wink of Stella on the heart, orange petticoat, and the eyes & mouth of the pumpkin. The embossing paste turned out wonderful on this card.

See all the layers? Soooo much more fun that way.

Day 3 of GIU - Dance in the Rain

Good morning everyone, and welcome to Day 3 of my Growing in Unity week! Woohoo! So this is when I realize that I have a theme this week...LOL For today's card I inked up Harmony girl and her matching sentiment, then created some rain with a stencil and my Distress Inks.

Would you believe the stencil is called 'microbial'? I used, top to bottom, Stormy Sky, Broken China, and Milled Lavender. While that dried a little I fussy-cut Harmony out and applied some foam tape to her. My stenciled piece was adhered to some Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock and the sentiment was heat embossed onto some vellum with the beautiful Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

I love how she turned out! It's always fun to make your own background to fit the card, and this one turned out just right. I decided the rain needed a little something, so I added rain drops with Glossy Accents.

Just the right amount of texture and shine. I glued on the vellum banner with the Matte Medium from Ranger applied very carefully behind my embossing, so no glue shows up.
