Happy Birthday Suzy!

Yaaaay, it's party time!!! There was no possible way that we could let our leader's birthday go by unnoticed, so Justine took lead this year in kicking our butts into whipping up some serious fun for Suzy's birthday. WOOHOO!

Of course, YOU get the presents! Be sure to comment on each of our blogs AND wish Suzy a 'happy birthday' by February 22nd for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the So Suzy Stamps shop. Winner will be announced February 23rd on the So Suzy Stamps blog!

So I came across the Spellbinders die I picked up while shopping with Suzy and Momma Denise last summer again and knew I had to use it for Suzy's card. It was going to be awesome - whether it was going to be an awesome card or an awesomely hot mess was yet to be determined. LOL In the end it did turn out the way I wanted, but I can hear my dear Mary now telling me how loca I am for doing this...

...but it turned out AWESOME! A shaker card. With sprinkles. And by sprinkles I mean glitter, but it really does look like sprinkles, right? Just don't eat them.

And oh does it shake! Amazingly enough, it also does not leak the glitter...I was worried for a bit and might have held it over the garbage can just in case before I gave it a test shake. But behold the power of stick-it adhesive and five layers of cardstock!

To not detract from all the glitter, I added some Skittles for sprinkles to my favorite cupcake, which is currently part of the Retirement Sale and makes me very sad. It also means that it's 25% off and you have no good reason not to buy it.

I kept the inside a little more simply, but just as poignant:

Happy Birthday, Suzy! May your Coke be cold, the temperature be warm, and the cupcakes be fresh. Love ya!

DieNamites and So Suzy Stamps Blog Hop Day 1

Good morning everyone, and welcome to my stop on our fabulous So Suzy Stamps & DieNamites Blog Hop! You should be arriving from Marina's blog. If you've simply wandered in because I'm awesome, you can see the full blog hop lineup here.

The moment I saw the new Love Heart over in the Die-Namites I knew it was going to be a shaker card. It had been waaaay too long since I'd made one! I stayed away from pinks & reds though because, well, I was totally burnt out from Valentine's Day, and to show how you can totally use this die any time of year.

Have I mentioned lately that green is my favorite color? LOL Seriously though, I love how this came out! I actually used some of my metallic paper horde stash to die-cut the Love Heart, then filled my shaker pocket with some of the delicious Mint Julep Couture Mix sequins from The Ton. I never skimp on sequins filling - this baby SHAKES!

On the inside are two of my new favorite stamps from So Suzy's February release - You Make Me... and Giddy. I'm adoring these new build-a-sentiments, they're just so much fun!

To keep the green going, I stamped them with the Hero Arts Green Ombre ink pad with the help of my MISTI to keep them nice and straight.

Now you're off to Henryka's blog - see you tomorrow for Day 2!

Of course, what's a hop without prizes?? Be sure to leave each designer some blog love both days for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Die-Namites or one to So Suzy Stamps. There are two prizes on the line!

If you're loving what you see here in my caffeinated corner of the internet, I'd love it if you became a new subscriber. Links are on the sidebar!

a2z Scrapbooking Shaker Snow Globe

Hey everyone - it's the first of the month, and that means a new challenge over at a2z Scrapbooking. This month it's all about the shake...shake shake shake...shake your cards!

Yes, I dragged out my Fuse tool again; it went a little better this time. I wanted a snow globe as I found an old die set from Memory Box in my stash. The small bottlebrush tree from Family & Friends Christmas set (which is on sale!) fit perfectly in the 3" circle for the globe, so I set about making a shaker globe. I stamped the tree with the fabulous green ombre ink and the stand in the Cup o' Joe (not that you can see much of it with the sequins there).

The brown cardstock was stamped with the beautiful Bold Branches stamp for some interest and tone-on-tone awesomeness and I broke into my stash of metallic paper for the globe base. Popped the whole thing on a green card base and I was done.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team came up with!

So Suzy's Surprise Birthday Bash!

Good morning everyone! Welcome to my stop on our super-fun, super-sneaky, surprise birthday hop for Suzanne of So Suzy Stamps! You should be arriving here from Steph's pretty blog - if you just stumbled into the fun by accident, be sure to head over to the So Suzy Stamps blog so you can hop on the party train!

And what would a party be without prizes?? Be sure to comment on all the blogs for your chance to win a $15 gift certificate to So Suzy Stamps or a free, one month subscription to El Atelier de Stampartpapel. You have until midnight on Sunday, February 22nd to leave a comment and the winners will be announced at 12 noon on Monday, February 23rd over at the So Suzy Stamps blog.

All right, now what's a party without cupcakes?!?

Oh yeah, cupcake shaker card!! I went classy with this one adding in all that gold. I used chocolate brown cardstock for the card base and top layer here, making me dream of chocolate cupcakes...the green background paper is from the MME Market Street 6x6 pad and is a beautiful ombre pattern. Yes, the green made me think of mint, so chocolate cupcakes with mint chocolate chip ice cream.

I'm so hungry right now.

Moving on - I stamped the Medium Cupcake Swirl on my ombre paper (cut to 4"x5.25") with VersaMark ink, then heat embossed it using the Wow! Ultra High Rich Gold Embossing powder. And let me just say, wow! It really turns out super puffy, almost like fabric paint puffy for a really bold statement.

Quick tip on the embossing powder - the granules are huge compared to standard embossing powder, and I heard that you need to heat it from below first before finishing off the melting process as usual. Planning ahead for this, I attached my paper to the card base first to give me a sturdier surface to work with. Worked like a charm!

Setting that aside, I grabbed my other piece of chocolate cardstock (measuring 4.25"x5.5") and ran it through my Big Kick using a Darice embossing folder to give the front some texture. I then cut down a piece of fun foam to about 4"x5.25" and a transparency to about 4"x4.5" (enough to cover the circle plus room for glue). Die cutting time! I chose a circle from my We R Memory Keepers Nesting Circle dies and sliced through the embossed cardstock and the fun foam. To decorate the outside, I used the same circle plus the very next size up and die cut a piece of gold foil paper to dress up the rim.

Quick plug for the nesting circles - they're amazing. I have every size I might possibly want from buying just one die set and they cut like a dream. So glad I bought them, and if you decide you need them please use my link above to do so. Thanks!

Assembly time! The final sandwich is ombre paper to card base for that half, foil circle, embossed paper, transparency, fun foam for the other half. Now it was time to add the sequins!

Colors used: 4mm Fresh Mint4mm Metallic Bronze4mm Metallic Gold4mm Sparkling Clear, and 6mm Espresso. I glued a few of the Espresso sequins right to the ombre paper so they'd always be there looking pretty, then sprinkled the rest inside. Using my finger, I spread Ranger Multi Matte glue all over the fun foam, lined it up with the card base, and mushed them together. Yes, mushed is a technical term. Once I got it exactly where I wanted it I placed a book on top of it while it dried.

Then it was time to decorate the inside! Yes, I stamped the inside of a card; try not to panic and/or pass out from surprise.

Grabbing the VersaMark ink again, I stamped the Skinny Swirl Cupcake and the Ice Cream Sprinkles sentiment on the inside of the card, then heat embossed them with the Simon Says Stamp gold embossing powder. All done!

So, now that I have you dreaming of chocolate cupcakes with mint chocolate chip ice cream and coffee (seriously, I'm dying over here!) I'm sending you off to Sharon's blog! Wait until you see what she's whipped up for the occasion. ;)

Oh, and don't forget Suzy's birthday present to all of you - free shipping on orders over $25 for the rest of February and if you place an order TODAY, the day of our fearless leader's birth, you get 20% off all future online orders for the rest of your life! Woot! Be sure to wish her happy birthday on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter.

Ok, I'm off to find a cupcake...have fun on the hop!

Growing in Unity Day 1 - Shake It, Baby!

Good morning everyone! I'm the Growing in Unity gal this week over on the Unity Stamp Co. blog, which means I'll be sharing a project created with my Unity stamps with you every day. Five posts in one week; wow! I invite you to come back each day and leave a comment for a chance to win your choice of (2) Itty Bitty stamps! Woohoo! If you're new to my blog, I'd love it if you became a follower and join in the fun over on the Caffeinated Papercuts Facebook page. :)

I decided to start the week with a bang...er, shake! I love shaker cards, and they're just so much fun to make. Seriously, just try making one and not smiling.

Fun and summery, right? The floral washi tape is actually holding together two pieces of acetate; I made a pouch for the handfuls of Pretty Pink Posh sequins I tossed in there. The washi also hides my adhesive lines...sneaky, huh? Stamped behind the acetate pouch is my flower, and...

...greeting! Give the card a shake to see the 'hidden message.' The butterfly I simply stamped, fussy-cut, and popped on with a Glue Dot. Note to self: foam adhesive doesn't stick to acetate well. Unless you want to chase butterflies, don't use it again.

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope to see you tomorrow for Day 2!

Lawn Fawn Shaker Card and the Big Announcement!

Good morning everyone!! I'm so excited that I finally get to share my news - you're talking to the newest member of the Mountain Plains Crafters Design Team!!! Eeeeee!!!

Our new challenge is up today and sponsored by the wonderful Lawn Fawn company. You have two weeks to create a card featuring either a lawn, a fawn, or both! Be sure to check out the challenge post to see what the rest of the team came up with and to enter.

Me, I played with my Lawn Fawn stamps, 6x6 paper pad, and one of the new cut files from Silhouette; they now have shaker embellishments. Nope, not kidding, and I'm trying to be good and not buy them all at once! So easy to cut and fill with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.
Just look at that happy little tree
A bit of acetate on top seals everything in (and creates glare...sigh...)
lawn fawn plus one baby shaker card
Just look at that watermark - squee!!
I do hope you'll come play along with us! I'll see you back here on Sunday for the DeNami blog hop.

You Had me at...Shaker Card, Baby!

Hi everyone! I couldn't resist making another sweet shaker card for the Pretty Pink Posh Shaker Card blog hop. Turns out I'm a bit addicted to going 'shake shake shake'...hehehe

I used a mix of Sweet Stamp Shop stamps, Lawn Fawn stamps, and Pretty Pink Posh goodies (of course) to make this sweet baby card. While no one I know is currently expecting, you never know!

Nuts About You Shaker Card

Happy Saturday everyone! Paulina over at Pretty Pink Posh invited everyone to hop along with her by making a shaker card, and seeing as I have massive amounts a bit of her sequins, I just had to join!

I inked up the adorable squirrel from the 'Cheeky' stamp set made by Sweet Stamp Shop (such cute stamps!) and colored him in with my Spectrum Noirs. Add some sequins, a bit of patterned paper, and voila!

kinda nuts about you
Ohhhhh the shakey goodness!! (What, that's a word.)

Wheeeeee!

I had so much fun making this card. If you're curious about how I did it, Pretty Pink Posh has a fabulous video up on their YouTube channel all about it. The secret is in the foam tape... ;)
