Remembering Why

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! Today I'm sharing two cards that remind us why we have a long weekend, sales, BBQs, and all the other things we enjoy this weekend.

This first one was created by inking up my stamps with the Distress Markers, giving them a quick 'huff', then stamping onto linen paper. The end result is a lovely texture with bright, vibrant colors.

This one was a very CAS card and can also be found over on the Mountain Plains Crafters blog today. You might also find a flash giveaway over there...shhhh! The feathers were die cut from my Simon Says Stamp dies (love them!) and spritzed with Heidi Swapp gold spray, then a couple of Pretty Pink Posh sequins were added to draw your attention back to the sentiment. All of the stamps are from Unity Stamp Co.

Both of these cards will be sent off to Operation Write Home. Hope you get some crafting in this weekend, and take a moment to remember all of our troops past, present, and future.

Up, Up and Away!

Happy Sunday everyone! It's DeNami blog hop day (can you believe it's been a month already?) and this month the theme is The Sky's the Limit! You should have arrived here from Tina's blog (oh the cuteness). If you just happened to come visit my blog this lovely morning, here are the blog hop details:

When: The blog hop starts on May 18th, 2014 at 6 AM, PST. However, you have until May 19th, 11:59 pm PST, to leave comments on all the blogs (to be eligible for a prize). Why: To be inspired by fun DeNami Design creations and also the chance to win mini shopping sprees on the DeNami Design website!

Prizes: We are giving away THREE $20 gift certificates to our website! We'll be giving away one gift certificate to a random participant (DT members not eligible) and then we'll also be giving away TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop!

All right, onto the fun stuff! I finally spent my gift certificate I won on one of the hops a few months ago and had so much fun creating my card with these little cuties. Up, up, and away!

How sweet would these little critters be for a new baby card, a shower, a birthday card...really, the sky's the limit. (oh shush, it was a wonderfully awful pun and you know it)

I colored in the critters and balloons with my Spectrum Noir markers, then made the balloons look shiny with help from my Glossy Accents.

Thank you so much for stopping by today - you're now off to Tammy's blog to continue the hop. Remember to head back to the DeNami blog if you get lost along the way.

Lawn Fawn Shaker Card and the Big Announcement!

Good morning everyone!! I'm so excited that I finally get to share my news - you're talking to the newest member of the Mountain Plains Crafters Design Team!!! Eeeeee!!!

Our new challenge is up today and sponsored by the wonderful Lawn Fawn company. You have two weeks to create a card featuring either a lawn, a fawn, or both! Be sure to check out the challenge post to see what the rest of the team came up with and to enter.

Me, I played with my Lawn Fawn stamps, 6x6 paper pad, and one of the new cut files from Silhouette; they now have shaker embellishments. Nope, not kidding, and I'm trying to be good and not buy them all at once! So easy to cut and fill with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.
Just look at that happy little tree
A bit of acetate on top seals everything in (and creates glare...sigh...)
lawn fawn plus one baby shaker card
Just look at that watermark - squee!!
I do hope you'll come play along with us! I'll see you back here on Sunday for the DeNami blog hop.
