Read a Book

Good morning everyone - I'm over on the So Suzy Stamps blog today with a card all about losing yourself in a book.

Yes, that is a real page from a real book. Please don't kill me; I purchased some old books from a garage sale a couple years ago for the express purpose of using them like this. Besides, doesn't it fit the scene nicely?

I coated the page with a layer of Mod Podge because 1) I needed something clear to prevent the paper from tearing (ask me how I know) and 2) I don't have any clear gesso. Note to self, get clear gesso. After it dried, I stamped the Vintage Books and World of Reality stamps repeatedly with the help of my Misti and some black Archival ink.

Once the ink was dry, I came in with my colored pencils to add color to my scene. A little slicing, dicing, and mounting to cardstock and this baby was done. How fun would it be to give with a bookstore gift card tucked inside?

There are some great post-holiday sales going on as well: I have my destash page updated and am running a sale on holiday goodies, magnets, and 2016 calendars in my Etsy shop. There's also a holiday blowout sale going on at So Suzy Stamps to make room for all the new January goodies.

Hope Santa brought you all your crafty heart desired!

Mountain Plains Crafters Graphic 45 Giveaway

Good morning everyone! We're having some fun with Graphic 45 papers, die cuts, and metal over at the Mountain Plains Crafters blog. And since it's the holidays, we had to giveaway a little present, too! How about some paper and metal embellishments?

Just head on over to the MPC blog to see what the gals came up with and find out all the details! It's easy, promise. ;)

Me, I love G45 paper but never have any on-hand when I need it! So I went beachy with some scrapbook pages and the lovely By The Sea paper pad and embellishments.

Lots of die cuts, distressing, chipboard buttons, twine, and there's a sailboat charm around somewhere...I think...it was really late. LOL

I don't think I'll be back before Christmas, so have a wonderful holiday season!

Boundless Imagination

Hey everyone - it's my day today over on the So Suzy Stamps blog and I whipped up a CAS card reminding you that it's ok to daydream:

I started with a piece of white cardstock and sponged the whole thing with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink. Then I grabbed the Rays stencil from Tim Holtz and sponged on my sunrise with Marmalade and Mustard Seed.

I stamped the new World of Reality sentiment several times with Rusty Hinge ink from Hero Arts and my MISTI. Popped it onto my card base and I was done.

Crafty Destash

Well, Santa called - he said I've been a fabulous girl all year, but my craft room is full to the brim and he won't bring me any more presents until I weed some things out. Come to think of it, he sounded a lot like my husband...hmmm...regardless, it's time to clean and you get to benefit.

I've started up a separate Instagram account for your shopping convenience and so that no one unfollows my main feed of happiness and kitties. I also have a new page here on the blog devoted to the destash movement. Everything is either new or gently used. Yes, there is some ink staining but it doesn't affect the awesomeness of the stamp. Fun fact: ink staining means that the stamp is made from high quality materials and is simply reacting with certain inks. See, nothing to worry about!

What, you're still here reading this? Ok, don't forget that you have until December 4th to hop along with us on the So Suzy Stamps Friendship Blog Hop for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate.

Now go, shop! :D

Here Comes Santa Claus

Good morning everyone! It's release day over at So Suzy Stamps and man oh man are there some new cutie patooties for you to scoop up. I couldn't resist pairing the new Igloo for the pengies with some Distress Inks, white gel pen, shimmer paper, and...

Santa! Can't you see all the little pengies snug in their beds as the Northern Lights dance and reindeer prance? Hehehehehehe

Just look at that shimmery igloo! I stamped it using dark gray ink so it wasn't so harsh. And on the inside, I used my sentiment:

No, really, it's my sentiment! I came up with it for my stamp as part of the Christmas in July retreat and Suzy loved it so much she made it into a stamp for all of you, too! Yeah, you're welcome.

As with every release day, there's free shipping all day in the shop. Stock up now on everything you need for the holidays! Be sure to stop by our Friendship Blog Hop as well for a chance to win a $15 gift card to the store.

Coloring Book fun with Adornit

Good morning everyone - welcome to my stop on our fun Adornit Coloring Book blog hop! You should be arriving here from my dear friend MariLynn's beautiful blog. I love how there are so many beautiful books these days for adults (though I keep needing to hide mine from my son...sheesh...) and this one is no exception. Super thick paper, whimsical images - I love it!

I received the Critter Friends Coloring Book and it has everything in there from tags to card fronts to full-page works of art. I admit, I was a little intimidated and had no idea where to start. So I closed my eyes, grabbed some markers, and just started coloring.

Yes, I'm not done with the chevrons...LOL I just can't seem to put my markers down and stop coloring! I aws going to leave them white, but then I colored one and...well...then I HAD to take a picture before the sun set. LOL

I just love how my owl turned out!

This quote is one of my favorites. I taped it to the outside of the frame simply because trying to photograph through glass is just a headache. This way you get to see all the pretty colors without the glare!

I have a clue word for you as well. My word is:

to

All right, now you're off to my dear Paula's blog! Happy hopping and crafting, I'm off to color some more!

So Suzy Stamps November Release

Good morning everyone! It's November 1st which means new stamps and free shipping all day at So Suzy Stamps. We had so much fun this month playing with the new release. I decided to try a new-to-me technique using Distress Inks.

I made a background panel with Fossilized Amber, Carved Pumpkin, Fired Brick and Wilted Violet then heat embossed the beautiful new Whimsy Tree with clear embossing powder. Smoosh Black Soot all over the top and you have such a unique background!

Once all that was dry, I heat embossed the Greatest Oak sentiment in gold embossing powder for a fun metallic pop and attached the panel to a standard A2 base in Bazzil Marshmallow.

The inside got some love, too!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team came up with! Happy Crafting!

Be sure to come back here on Sunday for THREE posts. Yeah, three...November is a fun, busy month folks! LOL

CASEing Kelly Blog Hop

Good morning everyone! Welcome to my stop on the CASEing Kelly Blog Hop! Are you having a fabulous day soaking in all the creativity? I know whenever I look at Kelly's blog I'm like a kid in a candy store, in awe of all the beautiful colors and unexpected pops of fun techniques around every corner. I always loved when it was Kelly's turn to post on the a2z Scrapbooking blog because I knew it was going to be something super cool and beautifully colored.

We have some fabulously generous sponsors for this hop as well, because hey, what's a hop without some fantabulous prizes?? Leave a comment by 11:59 pm EDT on Thursday, October 29th along each stop in the hop to increase your chances of winning a prize from one of our sponsors: a2z Scrapbooking, Altenew, Create a Smile Stamps, Dee's Artsy Impressions, DJ Kard Kreations, Hero Arts, Ink Road, Lia Stampz and Simon Says Stamp! Winners will be notified by email after October 29th.

Ok, on to the cards! Let me tell you, I spent hours pouring over Kelly's blog looking at card after card for inspiration. Then I discovered that she has a Pinterest board of her cards, so I lost a few days looking at those. What is it with Pinterest - every time I get on there, time seems to speed up around me and it's suddenly three days later by the time I'm done. In the end, these three beauties really spoke to me:

I just love the bold stripes here! The sailor knot twine is so fun, and the coloring soft yet eye-catching.

So much love here - the sequins, the rainbow, the unexpected pop of black, the random die cut pieces...yowza!

I love the CAS feel of this one, and the bravery to die cut such a beautifully colored flower! That's scary.

So, what did I come up with?

I went bold! The stripes from the first card were so cool, I knew I wanted to use those. The die cut sentiment from the third made for an easy way to incorporate a greeting without detracting from the bold stripes. You should have seen me sweating while I die cut that panel...yipes! I pulled the color palette and the sequins from the second card; black & white with pops of color. This card is so different than my norm, and I love it!

It needed a bit more shimmer than just the sequins, so I coated the flowers in Clear Wink of Stella for some added sparkle.

Time for you to keep hopping! Thank you so very much for stopping by my little caffeinated corner of the internet today. :)
