A Card for Daddy

Father's Day snuck up on me somewhat this year...ever have that happen to you with card-making occasions? I make cards all the time for others, but can I remember to make them for my own family? Nooooo...

Sigh.

So, I went with quick & adorable. Remember the stamp set I used on the OOTB Sampler Box cards? I pulled it back out and made up a quick coloring page for Kieran, then set him to work with the crayons. He's hilarious to watch...colors are very carefully selected and each line is drawn with great precision and care. If only he could clean up his toys with the same wild abandon...ah well. When he was done, I inked up the edges quick, attached it to some leftover chocolate card stock, then put it on a kraft paper card base. One of the leftover twine loops made the perfect finishing touch.

Apparently he was going for a CAS, less is more approach this time...lol
I know, I know - not the greatest photo. Camera phone again, can you tell? I dated the back so we can keep track of his artistic development. :)  His actual gift to his Dada was the new book, Darth Vader and Son. It's full of geeky goodness and was a big hit.

I love my Daddy!

How was YOUR Father's Day?

Sometimes You Just Have to Play in the Rain

Kieran was so, SO freaked out by the thunder last night. Once it simply became rain my dear husband headed out to the deck to watch it fall. Kieran, of course, wanted to follow Daddy and headed outside to check on his toys...
All right, here's my wagon
Excuse me, Mom, but my wagon is going this way
All right, it should be good there. Now where's my ball?
He only came inside because we made him. Oh, he was Not Happy. After all, sometimes you just have to play in the rain.

New Challenge over at Scrap Girls!

After many months I've finally picked up my digital scrapbooking tools, dusted them off, and have started creating again. My inspiration? The latest weekend challenge over at Scrap Girls in the Saturday newsletter to make a layout around the phrase "The happiest day in my life was..." While things like my wedding were right up there, the happiest day I could think of was the birth of my son, Kieran, 10 months ago today.

While I'm certainly no Photoshop genius, I like how it came out. Go check out the whole gallery and get some inspiration for your next layout!

Happy Crafting!
